International Women's Day 8 March

The International Women's Day (English International Women's Day (IWD)), World Women's Day, (International) Women's Struggle Day or short Women's Day is a World Daywhich is celebrated on March 8 is celebrated on 8 March. It originated as an initiative socialistorganizations in the time before the World War I in the struggle for Equal Rightsthe suffrage for women as well as the emancipation of women workers and took place for the first time on 19 March 1911. Since 1921 it has been celebrated annually on 8 March. The United Nations (UN) chose this date in 1975 as the International Year of Women as the "United Nations Day for Women's Rights and World Peace" and held its first celebration on 8 March. Then, in mid-1975, in Mexico City the first UN World Conference on Women and it followed the "UN Decade of Women“ (1976–1985).
