The Shiraz (Syrah) grapes for the Holy Moly come from the northwestern parcels of Ellerstadt. The Holy Moly Shiraz was produced single-vineyard and aged in barrique. A red wine with incredible pressure and concentration. At first you think you have an Australian representative of the grape variety in your glass, but the elegance and juiciness bring you back to Europe. For all its warmth, the wine also shows a cool shoulder and lingers incredibly long on the palate. A brilliant blend of Barossa and Rhône, simply great stuff from Markus Schneider of Ellerstadt. Holy Moly Shiraz is worth a whopping 94 points to us and has a potential of 15 years from vintage.
